A Walk In The Park

Just Another Example of Why We Love Park City

Just Another Example of Why We Love Park City

A few weeks ago, Park City's beloved Recycle Utah announced that it could no longer accept glass because with the economy in dire straits, the market for selling glass has, well, shattered. It was the strangest feeling ever to even think of throwing our wine bottles or pickle and mayonnaise jars in the TRASH, after having recycled them in Park City for many years.

I wasn't the only one who felt that way. Scads of Park City residents shuddered at the thought of throwing glass away and asked what could be done. Recycle Utah suggested that if every time you drop a load of recyclables at the center, you throw a dollar in the donation box. It worked. The dollars are adding up. And then the City gave Recycle Utah a grant to continue the glass recycling. Even with all of this awesome charitable outreach from our community, it's only going to extend services for about another month. So now even more community members are pitching in.
Check out Gallery Mar's fundraiser this Friday, January 9th. A little wine and cheese pairing, a little sharing. Of good ol' Park City good will. Check it out and help save Park City's recycling services. (And throw a dollar in the box at Recycle Utah whenever you drop a load off. Thanks).

Park City needs RecycleBank (www.recyclebank.com). There is a market for recyclables, you just need a company with an embedded business model to help facilitate the process. So how about it Park City Magazine? Start a drive to get RecycleBank in Park City and keep it green!
